Sophia De Mendoza, BS

Ms. Sophia De Mendoza joined the Metis Foundation as a Pre-Award Research Specialist in January 2025. In her position, Sophia supports the preparation and submission of research proposals, ensuring compliance with funding regulations, and assisting principal investigators with all aspects of pre-award grant administration processes. Before joining the foundation, Sophia had experience working in chemistry labs, focusing on testing gasoline and oil samples. Working in a laboratory setting allowed her to gain unique insights into the structure and processes that research funding entails. Sophia brings a robust scientific background to her role, holding a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Texas at Austin. In her free time, Sophia enjoys crocheting, baking and exploring nature with friends
